2003 EWSB. Wonderfully underrated pour.

Sitting around a campfire drinking Rare Breed with my dad on our deer hinting trip. Only thing that would make it better will be when my boys can join us.

I took a mite of Old Fitzgerald 1849 8 YO (Stitzel Weller wheat bourbon) and a mite of Masterson's 10 YO Rye whiskey (from Canada) and throwed them in a glass (together).

The strength of both these whiskies (soft and smooth) complemented each one another. Upfront you have the sweetness of the OF. As the whiskey (it is not bourbon) passes across the mouth the spicy mint of the Masterson's takes control and does not relinquish, but does not extinguish, the softness of the OF. Both whiskies offer a very nice dose of their own version of soft.

...bourbon extract... "Essence of Bourbon". I think we should copywrite that! But now you have to go out and restock.

I'm sitting on an unopened bottle of KC 120. I really have to polish off a few opened bottles first. Probably will time it for Christmas shutdown.

Alright, finally got me a bottle of Woodford Double Oak. Still trying to get a handle on this one. It's good, no doubt, but different enough to leave me wondering exactly what's going on. This one will definitely take several visits to come to terms with. A challenging pour.
