I don't really know what to say. I asked a few at work for opinions and read a bunch of reviews but in the end it came down to the fact that the PA LCB had only 1 or 2 selections in single malt small bottles with an age statement so Glenlivet it is. So far so good. Drinking neat in a Glencairn. Not offended by the brew but it doesn't have the flavor of much of the contents of my bunker. Practice maybe?
I thought the glenlivet was really blah (i cant taste lots of stuff like most of you) i think thats just the way it is,if you want something really strong/different try laphroig 10.most people say its a love or hate thing though haha,i hated it at first but after a few trys i started liking it.
now i think i'm going to have some laphroig 10
Glenlivet is a great starter, now then you should try a base line islay like laphroaig but i would recommend bowmore 12 it has a milder peat flavour than say laphroigh. For a next step highland try glenmorangie 10, aberlour 12, balvenie 12, highland park 12.
A good islay is ardbeg 10 year old, mean and focused you will not find it lacking but compared to glenlivet it is night and day. Tonight i had me some ardbeg 10 in my tulip glass with 1/4 of a teaspoon of water added to my taste and i am even more in love.
