I had a nip of Knob Creek a couple nights ago (literal nip a 50ml bottle) and by the end of it it was hot from being in my pocket while standing in a space that was about 100F (I went to go see some bands play in a warehouse no AC no fans, no open windows)

super hot bourbon is not that pleasurable.

I've cut back recently due to the nature of alcohol of being a depressant especially after it wears off. Been depressed and anxious enough as it as and falling into a cycle of self-medicating with whiskey is probably not a good idea. Keeping aware of my state of mind here and consequences of my actions.

I'm having a shot of Rebel Yell on the rocks. I like it, taste good and is a smooth easy drinker. Needed something cheap to have in the house, and this fits the bill nicely.

Tonight I am going to start and finish with Old Fitz BIB as it seems to be hitting all the right notes for me.

Finished the open Old Fitz BIB last night so tonight I got a new one from the bunker. I think I will several pours before turning in.

Tonight started with Gentleman Jack, and now I have a bit of OGD 114 in my glass. Truly extraordinary whiskey!

Tonight I started with AAA 10 y/o and will probably finish the night with it.

I started the evening with several pours of Eagle Rare 10 y/o. I'm now working on a pour of Buffalo Trace which I will stick with until I turn in tonight.

I had a pour of W H Harrison Indiana Bourbon at a bar tonight, and it was pretty lackluster. I doubt I'll remember anything about it other than it's not worth buying again. Glad I'm not stuck with a bottle of it.

Had two pours of WT101 and a small pour of Dickel 12 to end the night. Probably two of my favorite whisk(e)y's for the money.

My thoughts exactly. Beam Black is better than JD Black. JD seems pricy, especially for an 80 proof whiskey.

It is definitely over priced for what it is. If it didn't have the "macho" cult following it has, it wouldn't command nearly the price it does... IMO.

Angel's Envy. My wife received a $5 off coupon in her email, and I figured what the heck. We stopped by after lunch and picked up a bottle.

I wrote a reply to bourbonv's review from June 4th. In a nutshell, I really like this bourbon. The only downside for me is the price. It retails in my local area for $46.99, and that's just a tad steep for anything more than a one bottle purchase for sampling. The $5 off coupon brought it down to where I wouldn't feel too bad about buying the one bottle.

I have to say, this is a very good bourbon. I don't know as if I've had one better than this, and certainly have had quite a few that were worse (some much worse). All in all, I'd rather pay $35 for Eagle Rare 10 year old, save $12 and get a bourbon that is at least as good as Angel's Envy.

Don't let me sway you though, buy a bottle and give it a taste.

I pretty much gave up on JD Black. The metallic after-taste really annoyed me. about a year or so ago, on the advice of a friend, I tried George Dickel No. 12. All I have to say is, GD12 is head and shoulder's above JD Black. This is what charcoal mellowed Tennessee whiskey is supposed to taste like!
