Old Grand Dad Bottled-In-Bond

Unread postby bunghole » Tue Mar 15, 2005 2:49 pm

Given the two reviews by Mikes B. & V.. I'd like to respond.

The last bottle of OGD BIB I tasted was several years ago now. All I can recall is that is was sooooo damn tannic/harsh that I haven't bought a bottle since.

Is Jim Beam doing a better job of it nowadays? I hate to spend that kind of money on dreck.

Linn,
The bottle I tasted was a fairly recent bottle (In my collection that means less than 4 years in my cabinet). Actually it was left over from a tasting I did last summer. I really like the Old Grand Dad. I would buy it if you want something different.

OK Mike V. - upon your reccomendation I'll give it another go. I really liked the Old Grand Dad 114 proof, but it is a special order for me and expensive.

I'll post a review; good, bad, or ugly.

I bought the bottle of OGD Bonded, from which I did the tasting, recently. I expect it was bottled recently too.

I went back to it the day after taking my notes and confirmed the opinions expressed in my review. It is a very nice bourbon........beats the pants off Maker's Mark, so on that count it ought to please you bunghole!!
