Last night the Louisville BARDS had their celebration. A few people I expected did not make it but we still had a respectable group. Besides myself, Dave Pape, Becky Rice, Julian and Preston Van Winkle, Randy Thompson with his wife Becky and niece Jenn were all at D Marie's to toast Repeal Day and the state of Utah (Being the last state needed for repeal to pass). We toasted using a proper 16yo bourbon - Twisted Spoke. Julian informed Patty, the bartender, that when she ran out of Twisted Spoke, there would be no more. D Maries had that 1/2 bottle and one more in storage.
Besides the Twisted Spoke I drank some Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond, and Jim Beam Black. They tried to stump me with two unknown bourbons. The first took two tries but I named it - Bulliett. The Second I named as the 12yo Old Charter but it was the Proprietor's Reserve 13yo Old Charter. I also brought along some 6yo Pot Still Woodford I had - barrel proof and unfiltered. It has a great nose and is not a bad product, but does has a metallic tang to it that I could do without.
Dave and the Van Winkles had to leave at about 7:00 because they had tickets to the 9:30 Seinfeld show at the Palace. The rest of us were entertained when a magician who is working the bars at the Galt House came over and did some card tricks for us. We ended the day at about 8:00.
All in all I would say we had a good Repeal Day Celebration.
