Some of you may have noticed my new avatar. It is a photograph of the Harlan Distillery in Monroe County, Kentucky. I have a companion photo of the distillery that shows these two gentlemen distillers next to their mash tubs and fermenting vats. This distillery was a typical farmer distiller operation in a wooden barn with a wooden trough bringing water into the distillery from a hillside. They were taken in 1918, but could have been taken in the early 1800's. This was real Old Fashioned Fire Copper whiskey made in small batches.
Thank you Mark for helping get this as my avatar.
