Review from Bourbon Joe (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1232, Created:20080810212507, Updated:20090517211556) Purchased at: | ??? | Purchased for: | ??? | Info on this bottle: | St. Patricks Day Decanter 1985 | Nose: | Apple cider just as it turns into hard cider, followed by caramel. | Taste: | Taste follows the nose with candied apples followed by gobs of caramel. Lucious. | Finish: | Medium finish with apples to the end. | Overall: | This was Yellowstone from Shively put into a decanter by Julian Van Winkle III. This whiskey, once again, confirms just how good the "old" bourbons are. |

Review from bourbonv (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 86) Purchased at: | Cork and Bottle liquor store in Louisville | Info on this bottle: | 1979 or 1980 bottle made at the Yellowstone Distillery in Shively | Proof Of this Bottle: | 80 | Nose: | Corn and spice - nutmeg, withsome light oak and floral tones. | Taste: | Corn and lots of it in its sweetest form. A little nutneg spice and vanilla. No burn or heat at all. A sweet and smooth drink of bourbon | Finish: | Light and fast with just a hint of sweet vanilla and oak. | Overall: | This bottle is from a time when Yellowstone was the best selling bourbon in the city of Louisville. It is not a complex drink, but it does have some nice flavors making it a good pour staight or mixed with a soft drink. |
