Purchased for:$89.00
Info on this bottle:Bottle #1463 of 2400
Nose:This has a huge and rich nose. Let it breathe a while and it opens up nicely. Strong aromas of dark fruit, Madeira, brown sugar and oak. Traces of vanilla and mint. Wonderfully full.
Taste:A nice rich flavor with medium body. The strongest flavors are dark fruit and oak which wage a pitched battle with brown sugar and caramel sweetness. Dark, dry, and slightly bitey on the middle of the tongue, while full caramel sweetness settles around the edges of the mouth.
Finish:The dry finish is incredibly long with a trace of mint. I wish there were a few more nuances here.
Overall:A joyful surprise. While I found its sibling, the Joseph Finch to be adequate but too light and delicate, there is no doubt why the Henry Clay was bottled. What a magnificent bourbon! Very distinctive, rich, full, and wonderful. Anyone have an extra bottle to trade?

Nose:Sweet honey and vanilla with some oak wood and fine tobacco. Strong floral notes that could be roses. Very simple nose at first but gets better as it breathes.
Taste:Corn and candy apples with a splash of oak in the first sip. Not much alcohol burn but there is a little warmth in the throat. Very oily mouth feel that seems to set the angels dancing on the tounge as my friend Marvins says. A very quick and clean taste that leads to a wonderful finish.
Finish:Long and sweet with honey and vanilla and a bit of oak. It seems to last forever and that is good. It is a very pleasant feeling and makes you glad that you took that first sip and makes you want to take yet another.
Overall:This is a great sipping bourbon. Enjoy this with some chocolate after dinner or with a pipe full of tobacco and some good friends.
