Helluva a deal Joe, I was a beer drinker during my 8 years in Bethlehem PA. I recall the liquor stores were mostly a state run rip-off. But your deal sounds good. Cheers.

I stocked up on WT101 at $13/750, it was a promotional deal.

I am sipping some Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Drinks like an old bourbon.......... I like it and keep it on hand.

My weekly Saturday afternoon billiard, beer & bourbon ritual has seen the following whiskeys come out of the cabinet:

Rare Breed 108. Exceptional beyond compare.
Kentucky Spirit. Always puts a smile on my face.
Rock Hill Farms. Incredible.
Evan Williams Single Barrel 2001 (hand selected barrel). The epitome of smoooooth.
I'm probably forgetting a couple, but I assure they were all great.

Reached way back on the shelf and pulled out a bottle of Ezra Brooks 90 proof. A while back (2010) I paid $10 for this whiskey and it drinks way better than what I paid for it. Once upon a long while ago, when I was a dumb ass kid and no whiskey was available in my small North Georgia home town, we would visit a bootlegger at his house and pay $2.50 for a pint of bourbon (Early Times as I recall). At the time, I was making $1 an hour at a pants factory, so that pint represented 2 and a half hours of mind numbing work. After I left my home town I later heard that the bootlegger and some others were killed at that same house.

Old Grand Dad 114. It's good I like it. 114 proof is strong must be careful. Nice rye spice to start and a thick heaven hill like mouth feel. Odd but the corn shows up late. Right in there with my other brawlers: WT101 and Fighting Cock.

I guess we all had humble beginnings. I, too, started at one dollar an hour cleaning floors in a dye factory. I also like EB 90 and think it is a great value. It still sells for not much more today in PA.

never had EB 90, but a few years ago, I noticed EB '90' was sneakily changed to 80 proof, yet still calls itself EB '90'. enjoy it while you got it!

That said, I do enjoy some EB 7/101 now and then.

Yeah, I noticed that sneak move as well and it put me off EB, let me tell 'ya. Part of the pleasantness of visiting a liquor store is reading labels and figuring stuff out.

dinner at a friends house after work, and they had an Old Charter 101 out on the counter. I hadnt had any in probably two years, so I gave it a shot and was quickly reminded why.

Charter 101, yeah, it seemed like a good idea until I tried it.

Sipping on the last of my Weller Antique 7 YO 107 proof. Fine bourbon!! I am sure they dropped the age statement a good while ago. I put back a few bottles of the 7 YO and this is the last of it.

Last night I was invited to a bourbon get together about 50 miles away. I knew some of these people and there were some I wanted to meet. I got a chance to drink one of my holy grail bourbons - A Very Very Old Fitzgerald. I have seen these for sale for thousands of dollars. There sitting on the table with a stellar array of Stitzel Weller bourbons was the VVOF. It was absolutely stellar, just like I thought it would be. The bourbons offered last night was the best array of rare bourbons I have ever seen. I am truly blessed.

and what a generous person to put all those items out for open consumption!
