Bourbon Reviews:
Bottling Name | Jefferson's Reserve | Bottled By | McLain and Kyne / Castle Brands , | Type | Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey | Alcohol content | 90.2 Proof | Availability | US: Available Japan: Unknown Duty Free: Not Available Europe: Unknown | Age | 15 | Views (since 20080612) | 45543 | Bottling Info | The bouquet is ripe, rich, and concentrated right from the first whiff -- the emphasis is squarely on the sweet corn as the rye and barley take a distant back seat. In the aroma one finds traces of vanilla, caramel, and oak resin - a very sound, very solid bourbon bouquet. A superb new bourbon discovery that has me already looking forward to future bottlings.

Rich walnut in color with a multidimensional fruit-cake-like nose. A huge body with a well-balanced fruity/spicy palate complete with notes of pears, cinnamon, dates, raisins and sweet butter. A full, long, fruity finish. A sipping whiskey.

Review from BourbonDave (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1658, Created:20090820231423) Purchased at: | Liquor Barn, Lexington, KY | Purchased for: | $45 | Info on this bottle: | Jefferson's Reserve | Nose: | Oddly it has the same nose as EWSB 99. Can't quite put my finger on it. Definitely corn and pecans. Not very complex at all, but still pleasing. | Taste: | A very silky entry leads to an immediate hit of spice. A very creamy taste and vanilla in a great amount, and maybe a touch of citrus and oak. | Finish: | A pleasant finish that lingers just the right amount. Just a nice warm end. | Overall: | I'm glad I finally tried this bourbon. The beautiful bottle lured me in for something that I thought would taste quite different that it does. I probably will not buy another bottle or try any of their other products because this just didn't do it for me. At best IMO...so, so. |

Review from BuffaloBill (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1383, Created:20081209132047) Purchased at: | Sampled with a beverage distributor on Cape Cod | Purchased for: | $47 (?) | Info on this bottle: | Jefferson's Reserve | Nose: | Simple and not much to contemplate. It immediately reminded me of Crown Royal for big bucks. (seriously) | Taste: | The same as above. | Finish: | The same as above. | Overall: | It did absolutely nothing for me... not my bag. I've had better bourbon at less than half the price. Sorry folks... IMHO. BB |

Review from Mike (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 486, Created:20060426113448, Updated:20060426135819) Purchased at: | Sigman Bottle Shop, Conyers, GA | Purchased for: | $46 | Info on this bottle: | No 2280 of 2400 bottles, Batch no 42 | Nose: | A rich and very pleasing nose, with many aromas wafting up. The sweet caramel corn is moderated with a bit of oak. Coming along close behind are apricots, pecan pie, leather, citrus, bubble gum, mint, nuts, and spices. | Taste: | Sweet corn and caramel move across the front of the mouth. The roof of the mouth picks up spicy pepper only to give way to a nice viscous cream just at the beginning of the throat. | Finish: | A very satisfying finish that is a treat. Jefferson's Reserve is a rich bourbon that lingers a while. Subtle and understated with all things in harmony. | Overall: | This bourbon is a refined lady, but one that is very sensuous and seductive. Have a conversation with her and you will be in her thrall. She sings a complex yet simple tune that you continue to hum in your mind. Another sip........yes! Marvelous bourbon!! |

Review from bourbonv (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 153) Purchased at: | Chet Zoeller gave it to me 12/23/02 | Info on this bottle: | No 311 of 2400 bottles Batch No. 23, Very Small Batch | Proof Of this Bottle: | 90.2 | Nose: | Vanilla and oak with a hint of corn sweetness. Very simple nose. | Taste: | Smooth with no alcohol burn in the mouth and only a pleasant warmth in the throat. Sweet candy corn caramel with a hint of oak tannins in the mouth and lingering tannins in the throat. | Finish: | Caramel sweetness in the mouth and oak tannins in the throat. Long lasting and pleasant. | Overall: | A very good product that reminds me very much of Old Charter 12yo Classic 90, which is half the price in the liquor stores. |
