Seductive to the nose and to the memory..........the memory of wonderfully done wheaters from the past. The nose is such a key player in life's adventures. | | Taste: | Creamy rich thick sweet honey corn cherry that goes deep and long. About mid-way back some dry oak and mild pepper/cinnamon throw themselves into the heavenly fray. I like it better than ever!! | | Finish: | Pretty long lasting and, oh, so satisfying. Flavors cling to the whole mouth. | | Overall: | All the things one looks for in a bourbon are here..........creamy richness, complexity and balance, deep penetrating flavors, softness and easy delicacy, and warm spice to sharpen the taste senses. A great example of why great wheat bourbons are every bit the equal of great rye bourbons. An exceptional bourbon that I may have underrated in the past! It was on the back shelf and I have not sipped any in over two years..........my bad! And ever you see this bourbon in a dusty corner buy it, whatever the cost, buy it!! |

In tasting terms, I would say that floral and butterscotch dominate the nose to me. Specifically, it reminds me of orange blossoms and Worther's Originials. | | Taste: | A flush of warm honey and citrus, candy (butterscotch) and vanilla. Hints of cloves and nutmeg. | | Finish: | Slow-fading butterscotch and spiced fruit. I finally get the apple noted by others. For something with this much body, it is surprisingly, well, crisp in a way. Complex to the last, it is deeply satisfying. | | Overall: | I've now sampled all the BT versions of Weller except for the BTAC. The Centennial is my favorite. It has the assertiveness of the 107 proof antique, but the smoothness of the 12 year old. It is the best of both worlds.
Too bad it isn't in production currently. I will be hunting for dusty bottles of this one. |

Rich Candy vanilla front rolling into a maple syrup finish.

Very nice vanilla and cream. The taste of butterscotch is present
| | Finish: | 0-15 seconds it is very smooth, almost no burn. The butter scotch is there nearing 15 seconds
15-30 seconds leaves a strong butterscotch taste. I really like this bourbon. Vanilla is a little stronger
30-45 seconds the butter scotch comes back into play and it is so smooth
45-60 seconds nothing left other than the memory of the butterscotch and a nice sensation

There is also some contrasting apple and leather, an interesting aromatic disjunction. | | Taste: | A mouthful of bourbon from a tiny sip. Viscous, warm, creamy, sweet, woody, all expand in you palate as they grace it. Vanilla, citrus, cococunut pie, all sing a song of happiness and gustatory delight. A sensuous taste that is full and rich | | Finish: | The viscous nature of Centennial fosters a long finish. The thick sweetness just hangs on and on. | | Overall: | I find the Centennial profile quite similiar (no surprise here) to the Weller Antique. It is amazing to me how much the extra 7 proof makes in the taste difference. And I am on the fence as to which is better. I like the Centennial finish better because the 107 proof burns my gullet a bit. But there is a robustness in the Antique that is quite appealing too. Both are top notch bourbons! |

Good body for a wheater. Chewy. Alcohol not that apparent. | | Finish: | Tang and oak and spice, with the vitamins coming through. | | Overall: | Excellent and distinctive. I wonder if this was not made by S-W because it tastes so much like Dickel to me. Could this have been made at old Bernheim with a yeast the same as what UDV/Diageo used for Dickel then (and still I would think)? |

It will please your smeller! | | Taste: | A sweet creamy corn upfront taste that leads into some apple laced cinnamon......enough to offer a pleasant spicy burn. | | Finish: | A moderate finish that won't disappoint. The spicy cinnamon apple mix hangs around for a respectable time and calls for another sip. | | Overall: | This boy offers an excellent bourbon experience. He has some backbone, is flavorful and complex, yet exuberant, fresh, and excites your taste module! Very, very, good in my opinion! |

Rich vanilla and oak aromas offer a warm greeting. Butterscotch and dried apples follow, along with a wee touch of nuts. A very pleasing nose indeed! | | Taste: | A creamy smooth bourbon with all the advantages of a wheated 10 year old bourbon. I tend to like wheated bourbons very much. I like that extra touch of sweetness that wheated bourbons have. They seem to magnify the vanilla and butterscotch flavors, which I find a desirable characteristic in bourbons. | | Finish: | W L Weller has a very nice medium length finish with only a little alcohol presence for a 100 proof spirit. While it doesn't tiptoe across the palate, it doesn't raise a lot of racket (a southern expression meaning a lot of fuss) either. | | Overall: | I would call this, in a complementary way, a 'back porch in the evening' bourbon. You could take it out on your back porch to a bourbon drinking friend, not telling him or her what you are offering, and expect a complement when he or she tries it. You could then reply, 'Oh, it is just some W L Weller I keep on hand for discerning friends, I like it a lot myself'. Once again, your superior taste in bourbons has been certified. From me, a very favorable recommendation.

The oak is subtle, but ever present. | | Taste: | A bit of an alcohol bite but not unpleasant. It has fruit like a carmel apple with a pinch of peanuts on it. A little oily in the mouth feel leading into the finish. | | Finish: | Sweet candy apple leading into a tannic oak dryness that last for several minutes. | | Overall: | A great bottling that is just what you need on a cold day with snow blowing in the air. This is a sipping bourbon to savor. |

Upon nosing, Weller Centennial has an abundance of apple aroma, along with vanilla, honey, butterscotch and oak. | | Taste: | The taste is wonderfully enticing, with a continuation of the apple flavor, along with honey/molasses, corn, vanilla. There's a lot going on here! In addition to the afore-mentioned sweet flavors, there's a nice spiciness that follows that we must consider as well. These spicy flavors integrate seamlessly into the sweet flavors. | | Finish: | The apple flavor follows through into a very smooth, medium-long finish, that also shows a bit of liquorice flavor. I enjoy a candied apple flavor that lasts for quite awhile. | | Overall: | I'd have to say that I think this is a very fine bourbon that has lots of character. As happens so often to me, I have a hard time conveying all of the wonderful sensations that I enjoy when tasting a fine bourbon. This one is no exception. |
