Purchased at: | Small liquor store in San Francisco | Purchased for: | $13.99 | Info on this bottle: | Bottle issued 1982 per embossing on base, NAS | Proof Of this Bottle: | 86 | Nose: | Perfume, some light wood, faint char, faint grains | Taste: | Very smooth mouth feel, dryish and full-bodied yet with mapley tones. Sweet, dry, tangy all at once. | Finish: | A pleasant and refined finish. | Overall: | A 9 out of 10. Typical high quality in a standard bottling of the era. You can definitely connect this to, not HH NAS of today, but more the Evan Williams SB bottlings and EC 12. In fact, it is quite similar to recent years' Evan Williams Vintage bottlings (which are 10 years old), but better in my opinion. Maybe this circa-1978 distillate was older than its standard inferred age. That, or they got more out of the 4-6 year range than they do today. |
